Grandma Rose Comes!

Well, even though my Christmas tree has been out by the curb since the 26th (it had been in our house since the day after Thanksgiving and was a complete fire hazard) and all my decorations are packed away for another year, we had one more Christmas to celebrate!

We were planning on traveling to Wisconsin for Christmas with Grandma and Tom on Christmas Day, but the snow storm forced us to change our plans. So instead, they came to us yesterday!

We made turkey and everything that goes along with that, and opened gifts just like we would have on Christmas Day. I LOVE how Grandma R gets into Christmas. All of her kids are well past the age of believing in Santa anymore, but she is still devoted to filling everyone's stockings every Christmas Eve night. She even went so far as to bring all our stockings to us a week later, so that we could dig out the candy that Santa had left for us. With the exception of my husband who got Summer Sausage instead of candy this year!

She gets so excited about giving Kash his gifts that she can hardly wait for them to be opened after she walks in the door! Funny thing is, she sometimes likes to play with his gifts more than he does! Though I will say that she is right on for picking out toys for him. Last Easter she gave him this silly rabbit who sings Here Comes Peter Cotton Tail... while his ears go up and down to the music. I would say that is odd, but Kash loves it! It was the first thing he ever danced to and he still carries it around the house playing that song.

Before Kash was even born she called dibs on the gingerbread house tradition. She made a point to tell me that when he is old enough, she will be the Grandma that makes a gingerbread house with him each Christmas. Me, being someone who is HUGe into traditions, I thought it was a great idea!

Even though it was a week late, it was a great time and we always enjoy having her come visit!
